There is no way this is an isolated story. You can check out the reddit thread on this subject. It doesn't appear to be isolated.

tedrick
Good examples of how to deal with sexual preds: Garrison Keillor Al Franken Both of these entertainers were much higher profile than GH - Garrison was taken down very quickly - all mention of him has been removed from the Minnesota Public Radio web site -- Garrison built Minnesota Public Radio into an empire - their current president and board sent him shipping quicker then a chicken catches a grasshopper in July - Took a bit longer for Franken - but claims directed toward his sexual harassment brought him down -- GH needs to be completely expunged from the drum corps activity - I don't want to see his name in any DCI history ever - the art that he had a hand in, contributed to - will live on - the performances of the members will live on --- the memory of GH is nothing but a cautionary tale --

Your shallowness is more than a little grating, but I admit my emotions of nearly 40 years are a little raw and I might be unfairly harsh in my criticism. Still, your lack of sensitivity is more than a little shocking, especially coming from a presumed music guy. 3

Popular Post jwillis35
Read the article during my 3:00 break at work. I literally wanted to cry. There are so many things to be sad about. For starters I am glad to hear that Hopkins has resigned (have not seen confirmation myself). While every citizen in our country should have "due process" I do feel the BOD should have suspended him earlier in January when they learned of the allegations. Even if they did not have proof what they did have was a pattern of bad to criminal behavior. Numerous accounts. That's all any school administrator would need to suspend a teacher with or without pay. I feel the BOD needs to be let go. For The Cadets to survive they must make sweeping changes. This means that their alumni must step up, force the BOD out of office, and move the corps back to a standard of excellence -- and I am not talking about on the field. I am heartbroken for the young women who have endured this sick behavior. I am heartbroken for current Cadets who love the corps and want to march this summer. Who knows how their summer will shake out and what comments people will make to them, about them, and behind their back. I am heartbroken for alumni, staff, and fans of this corps (as I was) who must endure seeing one of America's oldest and most honored drum and bugle corps dragged through the mud because of unprofessional and potentially criminal actions by Mr. Hopkins. I fear that more accusations will now follow, and not just about Hopkins. The #### may well break and our activity may take a hit. How bad we just do not know. DCI is in a tough position. I pray change is good, and I do hope The Cadets come out of this stronger and in better shape. We've seen enough drum corps fade into oblivion for things beyond their control. It would be sad to lose one of this stature due to the actions of a selfish, unprofessional, egotist who allegedly used his power and influence to commit unethical and criminal sexual assaults on members and staff of a youth arts activity. I fear YEA may be left in the dust if high school bands pull out of their circuit. The Cadets may lose sponsorship, and they do not have a bingo game to fill the void in income. They are in a dangerous position at present. I am just sad... 9 3

Sweeping his name under the carpet is NOT a way to deal with this in a meaningful way.
