Jeff Ream
more corps should do this: Chops Drum & Bugle Corps 3 hrs · Chops has been, and always will be a safe space for all. In the coming months, all instructional staff and administrative staff will go through training to recognize the signs of abuse of any kind, and how to approach the subject with individuals. While there have been no reports of misconduct within the Chops organization, the allegations heard around the Drum Corps community today have lead us to ensure the safety and support of all members, staff, volunteers, and board members.

It may be too early for a full statement, and certainly too early for as carefully worded statement as DCI issued, but DCI probably has lawyers on call who can write statements quickly. As someone noted earlier, there's a lawyer on YEA's board. Not to mention the firm who conducted the investigation. Given that they've known for months there are allegations, they should have been prepared. Also, the Inquirer almost certainly would have reached out to the board for response before publishing. 1

That same program also failed to make finals the next year after she retired and went through two directors finding a permanent replacement. One of whom resigned before even starting the job because too many assistants thought they were going to tell him what to do. Thanks for that information. I never heard the reason why Grove City's assistant director took the directing job at William Mason but then quickly pulled out.
