Govenaires Announce 2018 Show Music

Recommended Posts

The Govenaires are proud to present their 2018 program, A Wo/Man’s World. The show explores the challenges and triumphs of women as they navigate through a traditionally “Man’s World.”

A Wo/Man’s World is a place where strength is celebrated … where glass ceilings are meant to be shattered.

We end with a call to everyone to unite in support of each other – regardless of gender – for the betterment of our world.

Follow us this summer as the Govenaires perform A Wo/Man’s World.

Musical selections include:

Proud Mary | John Fogerty

Kaval Sviri | Traditional Bulgarian folk song

It's a Man's Man's Man's World | James Brown and Betty Jean Newsome

Run the World (Girls) | Beyoncé

Ain't No Mountain High Enough | Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson

Respect | Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin

Founded in 1927, the Govenaires are thirteen-time Drum Corps Associates (DCA) finalists and four-time DCA Class A champions – winning in 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2015. Besides competitive success, the corps takes pride in providing a valuable performance experience for its members, and entertaining audiences everywhere. In 2016, the Govenaires performed in China as part of the Shanghai Tourism Festival.

Interestingly topical. Building from last year's Cavaliers' show perhaps? Just don't let it be too didactic. Hopefully not much talk in it.
