The Corps didn't appreciate that early TOC show a few years ago. They incurred large travel expenses and no way to off-set costs without Shows along the way. Think it was out and back for Bluecoats and pulled BD out of the west to early. Agree SCV could have better competition on this leg of the tour but it is the judges giving out the scores and we're always mad at them so it's their fault but will all equal out soon.

Surely it's not THAT ridiculous. It may be a few tenths off one way or the other, but that doesn't mean that they aren't performing at a level undeserving of those scores.

I honestly think it’s inflated by about a point

Whoever planned the tour: it does not really help the competition when you put a top 3 corps out in a backwater loop of shows for a month before having them join up with the main competition -- it would have been better for a 6 - 12 place corps be out there on that tour leg - more competitive for the other corps and that big bopper would be going head to head with the top competition

People in flyover country shouldn't get to see the top corps?

And maybe it is. I don't think so, but as others have said, we have to wait till SA.

Keep in mind inflated by a point means they're still in the lead. But I just don't think theyre more than a point better than the next corps.

nailed it -

I'm upset that Vanguard has busted an 86, artificially inflating the ceiling - I'm looking to blame whoever is responsible for the schedule -- it would be more exciting if the top 6 from the previous year were grouped together the follow season -- I appreciate that it's not possible for all of the top 6 to have the identical tour -- but if you're in the top 6, you should be required to travel further, bring your show to the primary venues after the 4th of July --- get midwest, get east, go head to head sooner --

set the schedule so at least once ever 4 years the West/North West arm of the tour is given priority and the top 6 needs to make it out to those shows --

How about you bring all the top six to Denver after the 4th.  Since DATR is the only show I can see live, that would be great.

Maybe, maybe not. Last year in Olathe KS they scored an 86.30 on 7/17. That was after receiving an 84.85 a couple of days earlier in DeKalb IL. We're talking about six days earlier. Maybe their show this year is just a bit ahead of where they were last year. That's the feeling I get from reading a lot of these posts (I haven't had the chance to see the show myself).
