Centerville, OH - July 30, 2018

Excellent opening statement, Tradition!

Nice stabs in the start of the first full movement of the show.

There's a tuba on the 50 that is just working the bass line. I hear him more than the others since I'm on the 50 as well.

Piano in the pit gets some nice work in before the horns return.

Horns and drums on the field doing some nice dynamics work as well.

Five guard members on rifle in the front of the field. The rest around the perimeter on flags.

Lost a little clarity on the last moving line by the upper brass, but they recovered nicely to finish the movement.

Concert french horn soloist opens the next movement, the ballad.

Tasty pit parts in the ballad as well. Not overpowering the soloist, either.

Tubas really laying down the foundation. A few horns are noticeable dropping out to breathe, so some stagger breathing work to do in this section still. Very nice sound for the end of July.

Very exposed rim shot by the snares as the percussion joins in for the big statement of the ballad. Horns are spread out between the 30s, then collapse the form a little for the final impact. Crowd approves.

About an hour ago, Crown announced that their VA performance tonight will be a brass and percussion standstill only due to a bug.

Next movement. Interstellar sounds come from the pit. Tuba soloist right on the 50 playing in the upper range. Bass drums on the stage behind him play a solo as well.
