1999- it was a tie for a championship so it probably doesn't stand out historically...but their use of percussion was so unique, fun, and fresh. My favorite thing about BD even since highschool when I was watching on ESPN has been their percussion and this show is probably the coolest percussion showcase of all time.

Oh yes, LOVE this show.  One of my favorites from them over the past 2 decades heh.  I'm hoping they go back to something like this sometime down the road.  So FULL of energy and just a joy to listen to EVERY time.

Stylistically completely different from anything BD has ever done. Just because you call it jazz doesn’t make it all the same!

It todays Drum corp if you beat BD...you're DCI Champs. SCV will probably win and they deserve it if they do. But they put their staff together just to do that. I know a few SCV alums and they were tired of years not beating BD. And one thing about SCV alums they have a voice.

This right here, this make a good Blue Devil's show, LOL:

Scott Chandler Guard Program Coordinator - Choreographer
Dave Glyde Percussion Music Director and Arranger
Jay Murphy Visual Designer and Caption Head
Scott Johnson Percussion Arranger/Caption Head
Brian Dinkel Percussion Front Ensemble Arranger / Caption Head
Jim Wunderlich Percussion Music Consultant

John Meehan Brass Caption Head / Arranger

You just nailed it-except for 2 things. Since we are talking all-time, you absolutely have to include Wayne Downey and Jerry Seawright. Maybe 3 things-the very good musicians that the Devils have been blessed with and nurtured.

What makes a good show for the Blue Devils?  The first three digits of the year start with 1, 9, and 8, respectfully.
