Now for the big visual reveal: The corps removes their Aussies and jackets to review space themed tops while wearing the star points on their backs.

Drum solo. Very intense and in our faces, as a drum solo should be!

Yeah, I'm getting flashed a lot by the mirrored surfaces. The body celestial is alight with a thousand radiant suns, and we're seeing them all right now. :D

This is a very sophisticated show for Shadow. They're currently on the outside looking in, but that also depends on who ahead of them will be at Michigan City Monday.

Next on the field is the Raiders from Burlington, New Jersey. Their 2018 program is entitled "Beowulf: The Rise of a Legend".

Bass drums start the show playing a tribal rhythm on the back sideline. We have narration, most likely from the Beowulf epic itself.

Baritones and low brass on side two with the melody. Sopranos and mellows join in on side one. They join together for the first push of the show.

Five tubas, laying down a bass line in the second movement. Baritones and mellos up front.

Snare feature right up front with the rifle line ripple tossing as they pass through the line.

It doesn't help Raiders that they follow Shadow, which is a full sized corps, especially in the horns. Raiders have power of their own and are cleaner, but they just don't have as much oomph due to numbers. This is not a failing, just the situation. In fact, Raiders use their size to their advantage in this section of the show, showcasing their technique and finesse.

Beowulf is getting his crown.

Drum line is getting a lot of playing in already. We still have half the show to go and I don't think they've taken a break until now.
