Too bad the closeup didn't work out, but thanks for posting these posthumously on the photographer's behalf.

Gives new meaning to the understanding of "the guard is wearing boas."              oh, that's PR's plumes.

Woodwind, eh?!  That explains a lot.

Larf.  I had a better shot marching Tenor Sax than a spot on the snare line, so there you have it.  Plus, I was in that teenage "I don't WANT to be like dad" phase.

Any updates on the show?

Inside word that Madison Scouts are marching two members this year from Brittany, France, former students of Euponitone of DCP fame when he taught there for a small corps whose director once marched Scouts. Staff and mms may need to bone up on their Jean-Luc Bannelac for Bretons don't always refer to themselves as French but do speak their own dialect. Madison Scouts have performed in Paris, France at the International Scout Jamboree and wore the French kepis (hats worn by the local gendarmes) as part of their uniform/costume.

Watched a couple of hours of rehearsal tonight, and liked it all. It's rare for me to find any show these days that doesn't have at least a few minutes of music I find esoteric and so, for me, uninviting. But everything so far has been great stuff from the Scouts.

Took me 40 minutes to realize there was no guard on the field.

Yup, Guard spent the day still rehearsing in raglafarT. Tomorrow is a well earned R&R day, then Thursday is our last day in Indiana before we head out to Wisconsin.
