Oh.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  See, ordinarily when someone wants leadership replaced, they talk about things like:

- by who?  And not just a juvenile "anybody would be better"... there have to be candidates both able and available to take these jobs and do them better.

- how?  Literally, since the BOD hires the admins, firing both the BOD and the admins simultaneously leaves no one in place to hire the replacements.

- when?  You want them fired immediately.  The corps is currently on tour.  What is your plan for interim operations?

You and a couple of other posters on Madison threads demand these immediate and multiple firings without mentioning anything about a succession plan.  And then you criticize current leadership for not having a plan?  REALLY?

Oh that old one. Yes, the call for removal of the executive director is not valid unless you provide a detailed action plan including the name of the replacement. Another bait and switch.

This is just like any scenario with a sports team when it comes to replacing a head coach, athletic director or GM. If they are not getting the job done and the product they are in charge of is failing, they are fired. And on very rare occasions is the replacement already ready to be named. They have search commitees, interviews, etc. So no..Scouts do not necessarily have to have someone lined up to take over if they change executive staff.

For it to happen on July 15th, there MUST be interim personnel getting the corps through tour safely and responsibly.  Otherwise, mass firings should be conducted in the off-season.

(And no, it is not just like any sports team firing a head coach.  Many sports teams know their fate a couple of weeks before the season is over, and can coast through the last games with assistant coaches running the show.  In DCI world class, your entire season outcome is defined by placement at the very last show you compete in.)

Yes. Really. It isnt my place or responsibility to put together a succession plan for the Madison Scouts. I have my own business to worry about.

I'm not advocating for firing mid tour...that would be insane. But the argument of "who would take over" or "you have to have someone ready" as a reason for not making that move following the tour is equally insane.

Absolutely. Something has to be done.

Oh, the irony.

By your standards, Jim Mason would be a drum corps footnote in your world.  He inherited a top-25 drum corps, and as director/program coordinator/brass arranger, took them straight out of the top 25 for five years.  If you were advising Colts in the early 1980s, that is when his drum corps career would have ended.  If you were advising Star of Indiana at their inception, they would never have hired him.

That's irrelevant we're talking about 2019 and not 1980. We're also talking about an 8th place corps rather than a 25th place corps. When Mason left, the Colts were back in the top 25. Mason has proven his worth. He proved his worth with Star and obviously Cook saw something in Mason in '85. He took a corps that didn't exist to 10th place in its very first year, a championship in its 7th season, and iconic status. That's incredible. He didn't do it alone, but he was smart enough to put the right pieces in place. He was smart enough to listen to other people's expertise. He did it again in Madison, although perhaps with less success. He left CK and DP a corps that was in a very good position to have a bright future from a competitive standpoint and one that was relevant. CK and DP have completely destroyed the corps he left them. I'm all for all gender inclusion (I think it's great news and I support it), but let's be real - this is nothing more than another desperate attempt. If the Scouts were fighting for top 5 I very much doubt they wouldn't remain all male. Honestly, it's entire laughable that you would make such a comparison between JM and CK and DP. An absolute success vs miserable failures. STOP defending them - you're part of the problem.

Comparing an accomplished drum corp veteran leader like Jim Mason to a complete failure with zero accomplishment and successes like CK and his clown show is just insane. Every great leader has had struggles. The problem with CK and this Madison regime is they have yet to have any success or accomplishment and only know failure. The Madison Scouts are the first and last drum corp that CK will lead.

You know, Academy and Music City have come a long way.

Are non-alumni of Madison allowed to state that Madison has fallen a long way and that you can track it under the current leadership? That seems to be empirical from the data.

The data shows that when CK took the helm in 2008, he inherited a corps that was bouncing in and out of finals.  Today, he leads a performing arts organization, whose primary program is a corps that is bouncing in and out of finals.
