a show based on Cheers

an audience cheering for Boston's Cheers would at least have lots of irony inherent in it. Jeff...

Sam Malone supposedly lost the velocity on his fastball in the Minors, but later developed an effective curve working behind the Bar at Cheers.

I don't think it is Sam's curves that attract the viewer's attention.

Now that this 2019 Boston Crusaders thread has been completely derailed for the moment ( haha.. patience.. it'll get back on track soon ), Cliff Clavin, the Boston mailman in the old TV sitcom " Cheers ", marched Drum Corps. He was in the drum line for the St. Ann's Loyalaires, Bridgeport, Connecticut in his youth. Cliff ( real name John Ratzenberger ) here :

Didn't he also march with the Stratford CT Conn. Yankees* after St. Ann's ceased?  I seem to remember him being featured in a photo of the CT Post newspaper who printed a review of past CT area corps ahead of a Barnum Festival or other DCA show in Bridgeport. Maybe we should check with Mr. Alisko over on the DCA thread. DCI never featured Cliff because he wasn't too keen on some of the changes in the activity according to the article. He's been a big proponent of more technical education even before STEAM and STEM models became the rage.

*from the other side of town, The Royal Lancers. (In his World Hall of Fame speech, John quotes both Royal Lancers and St. Anns's for teaching him teamwork.)

He could've marched there too... not really sure about that, X.   Alisko might know.

Its true... we can all believe what we want. However, if one is interested in actually learning the process that Boston utilized for the 2018 show, here is Boston's staff explaining the process they utilized to select the Theme's constructs 1st then build the Music/ Visuals/ Attire afterwards around the Theme (  sense of loss, conflict, then Salvation ) selected. It was a holistic approach where no single element,( ie the Music) was chosen first to start the show, nor to principally drive the show, nor " tie it all together ". Boston's staff has great chemistry and they work very well together in the collaborative, shared process of putting their show together, once the Theme to be conveyed with its intended emotions to be conveyed to Judges/ audiences is decided upon ( Keith Potter, BAC Artistic Director, influenced ). Its an equal combo of Visuals/ Guard/ Music that both starts and completes Boston's shows & themes, & messaging now... both in 2017/ 2018, and presumably will be for 2019 as well.  https://www.flomarching.com/video/6219131-boston-crusaders-design-team-explains-sos

So it's seems clear to me that the 2017 & 2018 themes were initiated by an idea,  quickly followed by a musical suggestion, that at the time, supported the idea.  Voila, there's the theme.  Moreso there seems to be an overarching theme or philosophy of a style of program or production, that enables a lot of variety in a visual, musical and performance creation.  Hearing the discussion about the human element of the program and the emotion that the design team believes can be brought out is fascinating.  They are fully thinking alike and have an interesting take on the show creation, it's planned development over the  winter, spring and summer and bringing the idea to the "cast", to perform the he!! out of it is pretty amazing.  But it starts with an idea in a restaurant in Indy, during finals.
