Troopers announced this just today:

The Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps is pleased to introduce Kristy Jackson as the new Corps Director of the Troopers. Kristy has years of involvement working for the Troopers and played an instrumental role in the success of the 2018 season as Assistant Director. Former Corps Director Fred Morris, who oversaw the resurgence of the Troopers from 2007 through 2018 remains on the team as Senior Executive Advisor.

Anthony Cruddas has been elevated to the role of Educational Director and is tasked with overseeing the quality standards of the overall educational experience for the members. He will continue to lead the brass caption as well.

Lauren Teel will continue her long standing role as Percussion Caption Head, building upon the success of the last several seasons.

Robert Blake has been named Visual Caption Head. Robert will draw from his experience not only as a former member of the long blue line but from his time at the Santa Clara Vanguard.

Returning to lead the Troopers Colorguard is Danielle Schweiger. Danielle's work with the Troopers in 2013 and 2014 led to some of the most stunning visual moments for the Troopers within the last decade.

This team has been assembled to reflect our desire to establish a member experience that is second to none. It is our belief that by upholding the values of our mission, success will be achieved. Our mission is simple and powerful. To provide a youth activity with positive educational experiences that promote the growth and development of specific life skills consistent with the Trooper Tradition of Excellence. Each of these individuals are committed to this mission.

Wild speculation based on possibly misremembering things time...

IIRC, Morris was put in charge of the corps by DCI to get the shop in order.

Possible that he's stepping down as lead of Troop because they're using him as the fix-it guy again?

DCI didn't hire him to be the CD at the Troopers. The Troopers BOD did. DCI doesn't hire (or direct to be hired) individuals who work for the corps.

If their percussion design and Ferguson’s crew stays, I think they’ll still be fine. If it doesn’t, then there’s a whole new can of worms opening.

It is my understanding that Rob is in charge of the entire percussion caption now as well as the arranger. He had oversight of the front as you can see by all of the Matrix people on the front ensemble staff but he is now going to oversee the battery. I believe there was a disconnect between the battery and the front this past season that led to the change. I've also heard that Derrick won't be going too far away from Rockford.

Well, there are technically 3 world class corps within approximately 90 miles of Rockford. One of which I'm pretty sure is good with their current staff and another has already announced their caption head returning so process of elimination can narrow it down.

Just to be clear here... DCI HQ has no such authority to " put Morris in charge " of any Corps. DCI has no such authority, and does not exercise that action with ANY corps in DCI. What DCI HQ can do is put a Corps on Probation, Suspension, or even Dismissal from DCI for not acting within the DCI By Laws. DCI did this with the Suspension of the Troopers. DCI HQ recommended a Change Of Mgt there before DCI HQ would reconsider readmission of the Troopers back into DCI Membership. It was up to the BOD there at the Troopers to change Mgt, and find themselves a suitable Corps Director that would pass muster at DCI HQ, or alternatively keep their Corps Director, current Mgt, and perform outside of DCI in any manner of their choosing...The Troopers chose the 1st choice for themselves.. But Morris was not put in charge of the Troopers by DCI .

It was my understanding at the time he was specifically recommended to the Troopers by DCI as part of thier re-admission. Perhaps I am remembering this incorrectly.
