Popular Post George Dixon
public FB post (hope it is ok I'm sharing it here) from a 2019 Cadets brass member about one of his teachers in particular but also about the great tradition of alumni "lending" their corps jackets to current members to wear during their season. This post puts a LOT into perspective: https://www.facebook.com/nick.lynes.5?hc_location=ufi Quote Nick Lynes July 7 at 11:45 PM · With 34 days left of my ageout, I wanted to give Marc Whitlock a shout out. I first met Marc in 2017 when he came and helped the Cadets Brass in Ada during our spring training. I've heard about all his accolades in DCI, WGI, BOA, BLAST! etc, and I knew he was the real deal. Over the years, he has continued to guide me as not only a person, but as a future educator, and band director. I am super blessed to have met him and been able to learn from one of the best in the Band world. During Spring training, Marc came up to me during lunch and asked me if Alumni of the Cadets still gave their corps jackets to current members and if someone had already given me one. I said No, and he said would you like to have mine? My jaw dropped. The Cadet that I looked up too, who was MY role model, offered to let me wear HIS Garfield Cadets corps jacket. I was in complete awe. Since then I've been sporting his old Cadets jacket after shows. Because of Marc Whitlock, I know all of my dreams and aspirations are able to come true, I just have to put in the work. I am beyond grateful for everything he has done for The Cadets, and for myself. Be Deliberate. FHNSAB 11

oldsnare
I have been a fan of The Cadets through Garfield, Cadets of Bergen County, and heavens knows how many other corps changes. I have been both a sponsor through the Maroon and Gold Club and marching member tuition assistance donor. When I traveled to a weekend camp and heard the description of the show to the members, my jaw dropped, and I had an empty feeling in my gut. Why on earth with all the problems with George being run off and all the allegations of abuse toward women would the design team get anywhere near "Taking down a Leader (the queen)" and in any way link this show to women. I say this because this theme ran through the show when described that afternoon. This year's show should have been no where near these subjects. What I felt that afternoon still feels that way when I see and hear about the show. This is my opinion and solely my opinion, but that's how I feel. And by the way, I will continue to support the corps financially. 3

Would love to see the Cadets take on a non-Socially Relevant topic next year (or five). 2
