It's a hell of a lot better than last year.

They were 7th and 8th last year, and I firmly believe the Blue Stars had the better designed show of the two. If the Blue Stars took the Cadets, it wouldn't be a big jump at all (there's been much bigger). Remember where the Cadets and Cavies were at the end of 2015 and the end of 2016? The Cadets still have a looooooooooooooong way to go to get back to the top, if they ever do. Rebuilding takes many years, if not a decade or more. Would I put money on the Blue Stars beating the Cadets? No, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Blue Stars do it. I've always liked them. Not as much as the Cadets, but it's always fun when lower corps move up and beat the juggernauts for the first time in decades. I have no idea when the last time the Blue Stars beat the Cadets, but it had to be in the 70s. DCI Midwwst prelims 1980.
PopcornEater1963
Having heard the Cavaliers music book on Friday night, and seeing their visual reveal tonight ( with the theme of the show laid into that video)...IF they execute the show I think they have drawn, I say all bets are off. I don't think you can just assume they are going to be a 5 or 6 slot anymore. That said, that same statement could be true for up to 8 or nine corps this year.

I went to fromthepressbox2 and immediately went to 1980, but I went to championships week and didn't notice Blue Stars listed in the scores, so I thought maybe they were inactive that year. You are, indeed, right. Good memory.

Best music book in years...and they are playing it well. And the uniform reveal tonight proves they are all in for this "The Wrong Side of The Tracks" theme. I'll see it on the field Friday night in Clovis. But of the three years my son has marched, I'm more amped up about this show design than either of the previous two. And I liked both of them.
