Playing a Beatles tune was tasteless. IMO Crown sounded great .. can’t argue with that .. Boston has been playing that Beatles tune for years as part of their standstill/encore rep. Nothingwhatsoever to do with anything else.

They planning to do that this year as well? From what I remember, in '15, they didn't really start pulling it together until San Antonio....course, I might be mistaken. Yes... by San Antonio. Navy Crusader
A huge thanks to crown for playing their field show last night... I was going to throw my phone across the boat if I saw any more warmup sequences or gimmick tunes! Good luck for the rest of the season.
Dr.Mickey
I have followed Crown since they were founded, and I have been going to Epcot for 20 years, never missing a chance to hear Voices of Liberty in the rotunda. And yet, somehow I just learned about this collaboration this week. What a wonderful combination! Thank you Voices of Liberty for lending your talent to something we love as much as DCI!
CrownedSantaPhantom
For anyone who was in attendance at CrownBEAT Friday night, what was the first encore tune that Crown played? Was that Band of Brothers? Edited July 8, 2019 by CrownedSantaPhantom

DasTuba
There is some footage of the Orlando standstill, one of which included the opener. Was thinking about the audio from Flo instead of someone's phone so when the high brass came in on the opening hit I nearly peed myself lol. This horn line is absolutely incredible. Such raw power. And that ballad gives me chills even in a phone recording, stunning! I honestly look forward to one standstill each year just for this moment. The chance to hear Crown brass without all the electronics, wow!

I do remember them playing "smile, though your heart is breaking" (not sure if that's the actual name of the song).

First they played their opener through the end of Dark Clouds, and then they played the selection in question. I played it side-by-side with Nat King Cole's "Smile" and it seems to match up well. Thanks!
