What rule would you propose for the 2019 DCI tour?

The tarp issue is a difficult one because while some tarps didn't work well due to tripping, Boston's tarp was utilized amazingly well!

They also stayed away from it until the end .

It did and it was also a large, heavy one in the end zone that wasn't marched over frequently with high-velocity drill. They got on it twice, but it was during the "acting" phase, where they could pay close attention to it.

I know this is highly unlikely, but what if a corps didn't want to have a battery or a pit? (Both things happen in marching bands, even competitive marching bands, although not having a battery is more common than not having a pit.) Would this rule require you to have both, or if you only had one, would that judge's score be doubled?

Or more realistically: would this rule require pits to get even larger than they currently are? Or could you get away with a smaller pit (as I think Bluecoats did this year?) and still be rewarded?

______________ Corps International ?!?!?

I don't want to see a corps without drums!

But for the first several years of its existence, Drum Corps International did get by without front ensembles.

Didn't Cadets for one year in the 1980s have a guard of like six people of something like that?

1986 a small guard was augmented at times by members of the horn line who carried banners, etc. for the added color. Poorly designed idea of the Cesario brothers; the following season was the great App. Spring guard.

I would also suggest that votes on  proposals or changes in rules be held every 5 years.  This would allow time for more feedback from judges, design teams and fans.   Some changes that we've seen in the last 20 years seem as if they were designed to give some corps an advantage over others.

Seriously...... what's the hurry?

Cavaliers surprisingly were never able how to figure out how to do so.

Might that have been caused by them being so narrow and lighter?   The mm can easily move them a little if their shoes catch an outside edge.
