What rule would you propose for the 2019 DCI tour?

Recommended Posts

Limit the amount of square footage (and height) you can use for props and pit equipment.  Setups are getting out of control.  Less is more.

An unnecessary Change IMO

There is no limit to the instrumentation a corps can currently use. All corps are allowed to use synthesizers and pre-recorded samples which can (And has) produced all kinds of instruments including strings, woodwind....

Sounds can be produced as you described, but IMO opening up to any and all gives performers on those instruments the ability to join and march. Strings are already legal, but woodwinds are not, and IMO should be if a corps so chooses to use them.

Have SWriverstone consult with each corps regarding their show's musical bona fides?

a ban on complaints about changes made in drum corps in the last oh....36 hours or longer. it would really save a lot of people a lot of aggravation if they just realized #####ing on an online forum isn't going to do a ###### thing

This change will reduce the number of brass and percussion players and that to me is a catastrophic change to the unique sound that attract fans to drum corps.

There are plenty of musical groups  all over the country (Mainly marching bands) that members and fans can enjoy that feature the instrumentation mix you are proposing.

In land of many choices why do people want to merge all the marching art activities in to one?

Yes!  One of the truly cringe-worthy trends in shows is to have the brassline backing a recorded vocal.  Yuck.
