I'm surprised no one has brought how this could potentially benefit the Mandarins.

others did mention this on the Open Class forum threads.

For instance 84BDSop mentions this on the opening pages of the SCVC thread in the Open Class forum.

Hmm.  With casino development now open for all 50 states, I wonder if the casino companies are planning development that will put the hurt on bingo operations?

or have the Cali-kept corps made a deal to do entertainment at such casinos as a new revenue source? I easily can see BDEntertainment being involved in this.

Not a rookie. Just a rookie posting on here. I wish I was a rookie. Not criticizing....well maybe but a few on here it’s like 24/7. But hey yeah not on the streets. I respect that.

Come back in January.  That's when you know who the real die-hards are!

Vanguard’s strategic planning statement from January states that over the next few years they are going to try to wean themselves off of Bingo money.

Sounds like a wise move to me. Can't imagine that today's younger generation are going to be found sitting for hours at Bingo Parlors with Bingo cards  in front of them. Blue Devils and other Drum Corps heavily reliant on revenues from Bingo operations will need to think long term on this too, imo.

Private bingo got clobbered in my area of PA when a company started bigger stakes games. Then state banned smoking just about everywhere which clobbered all bingo. Depending on bingo long term is a crap shoot with competition and  changing laws.

Helped with corps bingo and so smoky could hardly see other end of the place. Would drive home in winter with the windows open because of the stench on my clothes. And yes when smoking in bingo halls was banned people said one the of reasons they played was so they could be around other people and still be able to smoke

I thought the same, for all the Western WC Corps - Academy, PC, OC and Cascades may get new or keep members longer.

Thanks Brasso for the link to Canada's news; it's time for that annual Islanders/Rangers/Bruins rivalry.

I ousted Bingo from 3 educational institutions for which I had charge. Cost-benefit analysis showed it wasn't worth the time or money; those who groused weren't part of the wider community and only gave us complaints (about everything.)  Drum corps have banned smoking long before governments did once health reports showed the effects on breathing even without cancer dangers. Most corps also ban carbonated beverages and alcoholic beverages for the same health concerns. Yes, time to move into the new era.
