Maybe they didn't like mine either. A few pages into the survey, it disappeared from my screen to be replaced by a page that said that I had already filled out the survey. I feel cheated, especially given the high price of LOS tickets we all paid.

"I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"

For several years, I received the survey, but not in the last 2 years.

There was always a question listing dozens of restaurants, then asking us which ones we visited. Slippery Noodle and Shapiro's were never listed.

I guess they figure they can get our opinions here

I’ve been thinking on this for awhile...

I think it’s ridiculous that a “youth activity” wants to exclude youth.  Did they even read that question?

It would be interesting to learn who proposed the topic/question: the lawyers, the sex abuse consultant DCI named to its board, some director flummoxed at the problem, or whoever.

This question too well reminds me of GH's proposal to move the age-out year to age 25; Gibbs & Fiedler were supposedly in the shadows on this. DCI directors turned it down because it would no longer be a youth activity but a collegiate age activity. Youth funding would no longer be available.

If the World Class started only at 18 and age-out would be U-22 (under 22) as the soccer folks note it by one's June first birth date, then the max a vet could participate in DCI World would be 4 seasons unless one qualified for the bonus year (June-December birthdays.) i.e. 18, 19, 20, 21.

Seems to me the whole idea of DCI corps and the activity is changing quite a bit premised by the problems and lawyers making money off the same.

I also wonder whether it is wise for all the corps to use/hire/consult the same sex-abuse specialist. Since no one has 360 degree vision and no one is usually infallible, it seems to me that DCI could benefit from broadening the resources and voices heard on this rather than funnelling into one person's solution to fit all problems, corps and situations. That's a band-aid approach in the worse sense and pun. Second opinions count in medicine before surgery. Ditto here in drum corps.

So junior corps becomes “senior” corps (can’t call it all-age).   All-age Corps becomes junior corps.  Sort of.  Open class is declared DOA.  What a great idea.  Not really.   We live in strange times.

What do you call 600 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?  A good start.

It's just a hunch, but I wonder if local restaurants contribute to get listed in the survey?  I really don't know.

Yes -- there are far too many restaurants listed to visit even more than a handful and still have time for Drum Corps.

Add to this that DCI (what was junior corps) Open Class is certainly not what DCA (formerly senior corps) call Open Class; Ollie, we certainly have a mess. :cry:
