I also remember a "cadence" requirement... shows had to be within a certain BPM frame, from what I recall. Perhaps Mike Davis can fill us in more on what that was all about.

VFW sheets had a caption called "Cadence" back in the day. The timing judge would check the corps tempo  (I think) three times in a performance, and if the tempo was outside the proscribed range (126-132 or something similar) the corps would be dinged some number of tenths. At the 71 VFW Nats, Blue Rock and Belleville each had a Cadence score of 9.6...everybody else was a prefect 10.0.
