I recall that Santa Clara did ok under Royer, and his music specialty was strings.

Chuck Naffier enjoys the greatest respect among his peers. The Scouts have scored a real coup with this acquisition.

P.S. I won the Dream, but only once.

it was gone til i got there

Sad, but true.

Never won the Dream. But I'll gladly take the three DCA titles my corps won during my time there instead. LOL.

Loved the Dream.  An atmosphere unmatched by any other show... even though, quite honestly, it was rarely a "best of the best" lineup, from top to bottom. Some great corps, some not-so-great corps.  But always fun.

OK... back to our regularly-scheduled-scheduled topic.

True. All sorts of reasons not to be at the HS level, which is very time-intensive.

Well now you're just being silly. Jim Prime has never ever, not ever written quality music. How could he? His day job wouldn't allow for that.

Great hire by Madison! Love it. Chuck is top notch all the way. Good luck to the awesome Scouts as always.

My elementary/middle school band director was the finest music teacher I ever had, and it's not even close. I'm also willing to bet that he's a better brass player than 99.9%  of the people teaching in the activity, most of them also by a wide margin. The idea that someone would automatically be unqualified to teach the Madison Scouts brass because they teach middle school band is one of the more laughably ridiculous things I've seen on this board.
