Just thinking how one carefully selected still photo of 1971 or 1972 Garfield Cadets, taken out of context, could give the entirely wrong impression of what those shows were about...

My point EXACTLY, those of you upset with my post have not SEEN this bands show and have no idea what they TRIED to convey. I haven't seen the show EITHER but I am not about to connect my cousins death with some kids with toy guns. As to my "holier than thou comment", I've seen "snowflakes" and the like being bantered around here by the old "guard".  When a show moves someone in a positive way we reward, praise and extol them,  don't like it the governor issues a statement and rednecks on Instagram berate them. Sounds like we need to break out the tassels, shakos and stick to Sousa, for some. I never said this show wasn't in poor taste or missed the mark in communicating their sentiment, but I think we owe EVERYONE the opportunity to express and explain themselves. Enjoy the hotdog, don't get mustard on your shirt...

You mean that socialist song lol... Never though I was being political when we sang it in elementary school. Wiki the song if you don't know the background of WGs classic.

And to follow up the "holier than thou" comment above. Sounds like whitedj2002 is saying opinions that disagree with his/hers are wrong and he/she knows better. Pot calling kettle black saying others are acting holier.....

Didn't say that at all JIM, thanks for your spin tho…

then why don't you explain your meaning. And to be clear imo saying someone "being holier than thou" is an insult. Not to mention the go get a hot dog comments. We are exchanging opinions here and both sides should be able to express themselves without snotty comments.   Freedom of speech allows people to say unpopular things but it also allows others to say they totally disagree or are upset with what was said.

I'm sorry but how is this a subject in DCI World Class discussion page? Maybe a new thread about high school/college bands? Yeah...I don't think this would ever happen in DCI.

Eh you never know. Had a DCA corps use coffins as a field prop one year... SF Renegades....

Cavaliers 2014 did too, with the soloist in the ballad if I'm not mistaken.

What a short memory. Crown's 2016 Relentless show featured cowboy murder and mayhem, complete with prop guns. It led to a fair amount of debate on these boards. Crown changed the end of the show from an early season revenge killing to an end of season forgiveness, if I recall correctly.

I don’t remember any booing for Bayonne

There was a lot of unhappiness in 76 the first year they wore the banana unis. I was at their home show in Bayonne, and the comments were pretty bad from some, esp old timers

Didn't the Bucs have Ritchie Price come out of a coffin in 1973 during Verdi's Requiem or some such?

Never heard about a coffin but year before i heard about corps. Did hear people say Requiem the way Reading played it wasn't drum corps. Too quiet and not at 120bpm. Great solo though.

Supposedly Buccs had a color (Honor?) guard using different countries flags very early 70s. Included a USSR flag which upset some folks. Wonder what Greater Reading VFW thought.
