ErydayBeats
So, I march tenors for high school and I am a freshman. We are in parade season now and I just can't handle the weight of the tenors for more than 20 minutes. I even wear a back brace and that doesn't help. I also stretch before I put them on. Is there anything else I can do so I don't have to put the tenors up during the parade?
GrenadierGal11
Have you talked to your band director about this? That's pretty important info for them to know. Does your school have a sports trainer on staff? If so, talk to them and see what's up. If not, get an appointment to see your doctor or a chiropractor. Back injuries can turn very bad, so get checked out as soon as you can.

After many seasons through DCI and DCA plus college, my back is toast. I only marched tenors for a few seasons before I went to snare. A personal trainer or athletic trainer can definitely help to strengthen your back, but your body can still only do what it can do.
