DCI will, in all likelihood, vote in two weeks to remove Pio from membership in the org, so they won't be able to compete in drum corps shows. They have no staff, haven't held a camp, and until the Blenski family's ties are formally and irrevocably cut to the corps, there's no chance they will ever be able to return as a competing corps. This is RB's Captain Queeg moment on the stand, and it's shameful and embarrassing to see. Is Roman even still in charge?
Galen
Back to the topic of the actual parade plans, they had been planning an event like this for a few months. And honestly, announcing that they're marching a parade, which is a non-DCI function, really isn't newsworthy and certainly not worthy of ridicule, the corps' other serious issues notwithstanding. And yes, Roman is still "in charge" and will be until he dies or until someone finds a legal way to remove him from his position. He's not going voluntarily, their IBOD has no real leverage to remove him and no amount of DCI arm-twisting will convince him to leave either, even if/when they revoke their DCI status permanently come January. Trying to save this corps from itself is, imo, a lost cause. Efforts would be better spent supporting other groups or working to start up another corps in the Milwaukee area if people are truly keen about promoting the activity in that region. 2

RB is listed as one of the people “dealing with DCI”. I agree with what you say, especially supporting other local corps. I am not sure where Pioneeer drew new recruits, but since kids travel all over, the Midwest has great choices. Madison and Blue Stars call Wisconsin home. I would think any young man who is planning on music education from Pioneer should consider Madison. I say this because Madison is rebuilding and being a part of this would be potentially exciting and witnessing it could teach valuable classroom skills. Blue Stars would push talented members, no question. For younger members, I hear rave reviews of Shadow from reliable Midwest friends who know drum corps and meeting kids from River City Rhythm from neighboring Minnesota while standing in a concession line in Indy at a time the lines were long enough to learn a life story, convinced me not only that this is a corps to watch but that they offered a great experience. According to Mapquest it’s about a five hour trip, but it may be worth the journey.

JimF-LowBari
Keeping a local presence like parades is good but with RB involved it’s just wasted effort. Seriously has he been showing mental/dementia issues in the past? Knew a person with issues and alcohol sped the decline. He just saw things the way he wanted to see them and could come up with really “inventive” reasons why he didn’t have any problems. And if it couldn’t be explained away it wasn’t that important which reminds me of the excuses for hiring a predator. More and more I think this could be RBs problem. Re promoting Corps in the general Milwaukee area - how about starting w/ Racine Scouts? They have a ton of history to build on

I'm not going to speculate on that and I don't think it's really meaningful to discuss something like that in a public forum without proof to substantiate it. Frankly, I don't think there's a point to keeping this thread open or discussing Pioneer until the Januals roll around and DCI does whatever they're going to do, short of any significant developments before then. I respect your opinion but just saying there MIGHT be something going on other than just RB trying to get his way. And along with dealing with corps heads being accused of doing illegal things DCI needs to work on plans if corps leaders start doing legal yet things destructive to DCI.
