Anyway, two years I'm thinking about off the top of my head: Star 1990 and Cadets 2015. Based on brass difficulty and performance level within the context of those difficult shows, they really stand out. The list is who I would have put, if I were judging brass. Huh? Sorry for starting a thread about individual thoughts on top brass awards and who we all would have awarded based on our own opinions. Mods, feel free to close this thread that was meant to be fun.

I'm curious who everyone thinks SHOULD have won the award. Include who did win the award, if they won it that year, but change to who you would have picked if it's different. 1972-Kingsmen 1973-Madison 1974-Madison 1975-Madison 1976-BD 1977-BD 1978-SCV 1979-BD 1980-SCV 1981-Madison 1982-BD 1983-Cadets 1984-SCV 1985-BD 1986-BD 1987-Cadets 1988-SCV 1989-SCV >>> Phantom, not SCV 1990-Cadets 1991-Star 1992-Star >>> BD, not Star 1993-Cadets/Star >>> Just Star 1994-BD 1995-BD/Madison 1996-BD 1997-Cadets 1998-BD 1999-SCV 2000-Cadets 2001-BD 2002-BD 2003-Cadets 2004-BD 2005-BD 2006-Cadets 2007-BD 2008-BD 2009-BD >>> Crown, not BD 2010-BD 2011-Cadets >>> Crown, not Cadets 2012-Crown 2013-BD >>> Crown, not BD 2014-BD >>> Really close, but I still think this should have been Crown, not BD 2015-BD >>> Cadets, not BD 2016-Crown 2017-BD >>> Crown, not BD 2018-BD >>> SCV, not BD
ThePlanets
Cool! I have been thinking of doing a show that should have placed higher thread. I am just going to post a handful of years that I am more familiar with and who I thought should get it(some won brass some didn't).... keeping in mind that I was born in the 80s...so most are not live judgements 1975- Scouts 1976-BD 1980- SOA 1985- Cadets 1988- Scouts 1989- PR 1996- PR 2000- Cadets 2001- Cadets 2002- Cavaliers 2003- PR 2004- ... 2005- cadets 2006- PR 2007- PR 2008- PR (hm for Crown) 2009- BD (I fell there was a little too much to tweak with Crown in 09 but their performance was very nice). 2010- ... BD I guess...meh... 2011- PR 2012- Crown 2013- Crown 2014- Crown (hm for SCV). OOTW was one of the most mind blowing shows for brass to me. 2015- Crown (Cadets book was more difficult but their hornline didn't sell the show musically like Crown) 2016- Crown (HM for SCV) 2017- ... Crown had the best line but I didn't like the book 2018- Bluecoats 2018 was the best year for brass live for me...any of the top 4 could have won and had great books and lines.
