Heh, I don't know if it was sucking it up or being macho...more that we were just very competitive and a bit goofy even by 1982 DCA standards. We knew what the game was, and we wanted to let them down. How? By winning the contest.  :satisfied:

And that desire to let them down by winning, that competitive behavior, is what the APA now considers a psychological disorder. Welcome to the future!!!

The American Psychological Association just announced, look it up, that they have determind stoicism, competitiveness, thick skin, and other masculine traits like suck it up buttercup are actually psychological 'disorders'. And that the real healthy traits are to give in to hurt feelings, like whining and crying when you are booed. I sh## you not!!! Who knew Richard Simmons is in fact a better role model than Marcus Luttrell.

"The main thrust of the subsequent research is that traditional masculinity— marked by stoicism, competitiveness, dominance and aggression—is, on the whole, harmful.

Interesting as the last two sound like being a macho macho moron ($1 kinda to Village People) and first one is real men don’t show feelings... ugh....

oh course you look at things different when you’re well under 6 foot and realize inner toughness does not equal ability to kick someone’s butt

Of course bad behavior can be shown to be true in all walks of life. But they are saying Richard Simmons exhibits the correct traits to dance with ISIS and Marcus Luttrell exhibits a mental disorder because he wants to fight in our defense.

Holy extrapolation Batman. That's...not what they're saying at all. They're saying that maybe, just mayyyyyyybe, one should consider allowing men to have a space to be emotional in a way other than showing anger, rather than locking everything away or directing it toward anger.

The fact that your interpretation of that was "guess we should all dance with Richard Simmons and ISIS" says far, far more about you than anything else. Though misreading things to suit your contrived notions of the world isn't abnormal, given the BAC '09 discussion.
