What other musical artist/group should the Bluecoats cover?

Recommended Posts

Always wanted to hear a drumcorps (any corps) cover a set of Electric Light Orchestra tunes.

A show that started with "Dearly Beloved......" could hype all it wanted.

Alright reps:

Let's Go Crazy {Preshow...Drum majors, is your corps ready?  organ glissando, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called....life". DCI is proud to present, the Bluecoats! [music begins])
Sexy MF (with percussion features worked in)
Purple Rain (power ballad)
[1! 2! 1! 2!  3! 4!] Raspberry Beret/Litte Red Corvette meledy/mashup

Purple Rain snippets tie it throughout.

Adding more to this....guard HAS to have a big moment in heels.

I truly hope somebody in designLAND is casting an eye here.

This suggestion is Gold!

Stevie Wonder, hands down. I'm amazed that more corps (or bands in general, at least in the more competitive scene) haven't touched his music.

Oh heck yes.  There's lots there to explore.  Smokey Robinson too.

Thanks.  The Sexy MF as a drum feature number is something I just stumbled on in thinking through this real quick.  Been listening to that on loop now and dang there's TONS of potential there.  Of course I can imagine the pearl clutching from some corners about selecting that number.  hah

Actually, check one of the responses to my post re your idea.

Seems the pearl clutching has commenced with the mere suggestion...

Actually. The Prince show would be risky for Bluecoats for the same reason the Beatles sort of is....can they get the complexity to push content scores up?

Guardians in Open Class could take a Prince show all the way though.  They did a Kayne show a few years back that was super entertaining.

Open, World...whatever.

Just hope I live long enough to see it come to fruition.

The Man was a stinkin’ musical genius, and his body of work rates such a tribute.
