That’s it exactly. A break from the “meh” attitude, thanks. There’s some very positive feedback on their Facebook page. I want to see this new direction followed up by an internal shakeup, otherwise it’s just change for the sake of change.

That’s a statement I agree with 100 percent. I take this with a little more cynicism. I don’t think it’s change for the sake of change. I think the present (failed) administration is attempting to deflect accountability from themselves for the present competitive problems, and this is the reason for the timing of the change.

Who here is staying all corps must be gender inclusive?

Oh that’s right - no one

there are those celebrating the move, supporting the move and opposing the move

i haven’t seen a single post demanding this from all corps

Referring to social media comments elsewhere. It’s definitely been said.

Right now men can’t play on the women’s national soccer team.

Right now men aren’t walking in the Victoria’s Secret Runway Show.

Right now men can’t be the president of a sorority.

Right now men aren’t on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

the list goes on...

So you are advocating that there should be separate female only and male only divisions of DCI?

Not fishing at all, just asking for some clarification of your thoughts.

There are men-only and women only soccer leagues.
Victoria's Secret makes women's garments
Women can't be President of a fraternity

The list goes on and on....

Can we please leave the Cavaliers out of this. There has been no talk of this happening.

But it does shine the spotlight on them whether it's warranted or not. The time has come to not exclude women, well, it's been time for a long time.

I'll take equality over privilege and exclusivity every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

If you actually listen to the words coming out of the mouths of the Scouts' leadership, it sounds like they did this in a thoughtful way and for the right reasons.  If competitive struggles brought those right reasons to the front rank of their concerns, then so be it.  I'm not too picky about the reasons behind positive change.

I hope and believe that a more inclusive corps will open up richer experiences for current and future members -- and for alums too.

Lots of institutions have found ways to reconcile tradition and inclusivity.  My guess is that the Scouts can figure out how to accomplish that too.
