New Cadets Sexual Assault Accusation

Time to watch some drum corps this evening. The scores are getting tight.

In the meantime, some of your folks are very well connected to the Cadets it appears.

Perhaps we can slow the dialogue.  Can someone get hold of the Cadet's policies and post them here? In their release from probation from  DCI there are quotes from the Executive Director,  the director of the Cadets and the Board Chair. All reference the great steps taken , the policies in place, and other such improvements.

Can we see those policies?

For me, this is not about the mom, the guardian, or who got cut. I guess the real question is, how was this allowed to occur, assuming it did and what exactly was the response of the Cadets.

I believe I am reading that both kids marched championships so, they were still on site right?

I imagine these questions will not be answered for some time. But, if one of you who speak to Scott can post the policies I think that might calm the nerves of many.

Any chance?

This is all so very disturbing. And it reminds me of a thread I started when all the Hop stuff went down. In an environment where all that was being talked about was inappropriate behavior between staff and members, I  basically brought up this very scenario, member to member inappropriate behavior. The thread kind of got lost in the larger discussion at the time, but in case anyone is interested in reading it, here is the link:

Seems that some part(s) of the code of conduct were violated.

Same w/r/t sexual harassment policy.

One thing to note - nowhere has there been any assertion that the unwanted sexual contact did not occur.  Thus, there is an apparent violation of YEA's sexual harassment policy.  And the alleged perp was allowed to perform  several more times & attend the Corps banquet.

So does YEA follow its policies or not?

You mean the guardian that said the alleged victim needs to march Cadets “for healing”.... and not posting rest of my thought

Wasn't it confirmed by the psychologist that the alleged victim "needed" to return to Cadets to continue "healing"?

Edit:  Yes, middle of first page of letter, second point of three:  "...returning to Cadets in 2019 will accelerate his healing process" according to the son's psychiatrist.

or some of us have pointed out flaws on both sides. But why let those facts get in the way of a good DCP "I'm offended" rant by someone that keeps coming in and offering their opinion and casting blame?

So then I wasn't referring to you and you can move on? And by all means go back through my comments in this thread and see where I cast blame on anyone other than to give my opinion on their design choice which doesn't have anything to do with this case specifically.

Never saw anything that supposedly came from any medical professional. Caveat had problems reading the letter so might have missed something. There was a name given to the quote and after backtracking thru the letter that name was applied to the guardian
