BD, Boston and Mandarins in particular got great draws.

Meanwhile, not-so-good draws for Bluecoats, Phantom and Music City.

I don't put a lot of stock in the benefits or disadvantages of the group draws...

But if I did, would agree that Boston got the best case scenario for themselves among the field.

The whole concept of judges "saving room" exists because DCI employs a judging system that ends at 100. When scores are in the 80s like they are right now, there is no need for judges to pay attention to saving room because currently corps are not scoring anywhere close to 100 in any subcaption.

draws mean less than they used to, since judges can hold numbers and go back and adjust if need be

I'd guess that draws mean more because first, it's work to change something so it has to be that much better, and then some, to make anyone go through the effort of making all the adjustments.   Second, with corps so much closer in execution levels, it's hard to remember the exact difference between the corps you just saw and the one four corps ago when the last two were equally as good.

Was that first sentence English?
