You don't think privately the staff that stayed with Crown, there's a sense of satisfaction beating BAC and seeing them not run off with multiple championships?

Presumably the other members of the "brain trust" deliberately left this point for you to make.

Of course I’m sure they do .. but it’s not number one topic over and over and over  .. from Crownland.

It is interesting that as the San Antonio Regional is dissected by the DCP brain trust, little is being said about BAC now being only .35 behind Crown.  Just two days ago some folks were still saying that Crown was only one point behind SCV and that could easily be made up to medal..  Now comes the Boston Crusaders....now what?  A blind dog with a note in its mouth can see that BAC is moving.  Just like 2018.  Just like 2017.  And, even in 2016, an otherwise tough year, they went from 14th in Allentown to 12th in Semis six days later.  History shows that Boston does, in fact, surge during the last weeks of the season.  Call institutional groupthink, or bunker mentality, or inspiration from what is arguably THE most supportive alumni network anywhere in DCI, but Boston is able to draw strength during the final part of the season. For members of this drum corps, as corny as it may sound to some, being a "Boston Crusader" is a thing. Spending an evening in the Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park is a thing.  And having 80 years of alumni who have their back without reservation is a thing.

QueenAnne may not like it, but BAC quite likely  has not yet landed in its final competitive spot yet.  Eat'em Up, Boston!  Keep that accelerator right to the floor guys!

But we always have someone to remind us how awesome BAC is and how much better they will be and how they are really better than Crown ... even tho they have lost every H2H since CrownBeat so seems to me the trend line is going the opposite way. And I believe .. Crown came out ahead in 2016, 2017, and 2018. There is this perverse obsession with Crown from BAC .. I guess since they stole all their visual/CG staff.

stolen staff story es stale.

I’m cool with that. I’m not cool with tarps that kids have to march on.

Imagine if the lines on an nfl football field were tarps. Yeah.

I also think the tarps are not a good idea. They were a big problem for the Cavaliers last year and you may not have caught it during the stream,  but an SCV member tripped over the tarp at the end of the show. With the glare coming off SCV's tarp, I imagine they are quite slippery and the mm's are prone to trip on them. The tarps, the props and equipment  need to be out of the way as much as possible. Bloo has the field covered with dots but they're on the back side and kids are trying to march on them.

1 of 8 will win perc? 🤪

I think you meant 1 of 1.

A bunch of others as far down as 8 have enjoyed top billing through the first half of the season.  Even if SCV holds that spot firmly, it's one caption that goes to a likely 3rd place overall standing... which bolsters the likelihood of the scenario that happened last night happening again... given that some of those others could finish above the over all 1 and 2 corps in percussion.

It's not about who wins a caption so much as it is about how deeply buried a corps can get on a given night... Like BD getting 5 in brass and Bloo getting 6 in drums.

The SCV tarps also looked terrible close up. Huge wrinkles/folds, that got worse whenever someone marched or rolled a prop over them.

The only way I've seen tarps used effectively in DCI is as decoration at the edges of the field. It never seems to work well if people are going to march over them.

I really like how Bluecoats use the dots to frame the field - does not distract

That was unexpected: After the show, The Wife commented of the top 6 Corps, her favorites were Carolina Crown (duh!) and ... wait for it .... Blue Devils.

1-800-DIVORCE can expect a call shortly.

Right On! Use the guard, the flags and silks like BAC, BD and Crossmen. That adds more color and there is movement.
