Ever since the finals moved to Indy, it's been very affordable.  The Megabus has only cost $1 each way on the Chicago-Indy route.

The annual splurge is Allentown, one week before finals.

Zero, for the first time in 20+ years.

Skipped STL because of venue.

Skipped Lisle & Dekalb this year too. Schedule conflicts.

So from three "usuals" to none. Usually 3-4 tickets purchased per show.

Considering price of accommodations, food, gas, tickets.........beer........significant "tour"ism [see what I did there?] financial swing for 2019.

Allentown both days (1 night hotel)

Salem VA (1 night hotel)

Donation to my former corps

Flo

... is probably around $900 total or so.

spending slightly more b/c I am probably adding the Salem show (tickets, 4 hr drive each way, hotel)

I will also get the BluRays after the season as a gift (so not my money).

ZZZN (Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada). Too much travel time/money needed to go to shows that I don't care to invest any more, as my enjoyment of drum corps has been severely diminished over the past few years.

I pay for tuition, I volunteer, I pay for corps meals, I spend a lot on airfare for auditions, camps, travel to and from shows,  at least 20 nights in a hotel directly related to corps activity, merch...so much merch, Flo, all of the purchases at the truck stops. Sometimes I pay for a hot, private shower at that truck stop, too.

Ditto here completely.

Even with a few free airline tickets and a free hotel room, current economy costs and ticket costs for DCI to go to Allentown and Indy alone is more than my total monthly income (and that's if they don't catch me smuggling in the sandwiches made at home or at the free breakfast bar.)  Way out of my league and lately of my interest. And they don't even march while they play their electronic trombones and sousaphones wearing their way ugly garb. I'm gone. It was a good ride but I won't see DCI's 50th.

I'm always fascinated by this sentiment when coming from people who post SO MUCH on here about current topics and the current year's shows.

That counts in the poll, though.

Fair enough.

I hadn't realized how much I was spending until I started listing and adding. Yeah, it's a pretty fair amount (in the thousands), but even with changes in the direction of the activity, not all of which I agree with, this strange drum corps animal still sparks joy in me.
