I don't see an "ouch" for Boston here.  Just 7 tenths behind Crown and only a couple points away from first.  BAC is in truly rarified air here in that it has never been up in this altitude before (during the DCI era).  The corps is performing very well and the live audiences are going crazy for them.  They were in 12th only 23 months ago....lest we forget.

Boston went down in scoring by 0.450.  That's the "ouch" I was referring to.  The four Corps I mentioned each went backwards at Broken Arrow.  Someone was saying ouch about Blue Stars who only went up 0.05, I think.  That was the context.  Had BAC matched Crown's improvement last night, they would be outscoring them.

I agree BAC has a great program this year and will be at least nipping at Crown the rest of the year.

the scores spread out at this crowded shows - nothing too unusual about the middle and lower scoring corps at a large contest seeing the score drop

Well, SCV's score went down as well.  I know that there is a "spreading".  But it never is nice when it happens to you.

Do you think perhaps it's a balance issue with 3 tenors vs 10 snares? It appears they had 4 tenors before. I mean, they could have recruited a replacement or at the most worst, cut 2 snares to balance things out sound wise.

from the field, "balance" shouldn't really be an issue unless you can't hear the tenors at all.

I'm thinking of going down for this show next season if it's not on the flo -

has anyone attended this show? Does it generally sell out?

What's the concessions like? Anything special? Lines hellaciously long?

I've been there - really nice stadium and crowd

Concessions they bring in the normal plus some local places with burgers etc...

The stadium rocks - there one time for OK band championships.

True, seems to me to my hears, that was a challenge.

The injured quad was replaced by a vet almost two weeks ago.  It's been posted that they hope to get him in a show or two before SA.

Good to know, I figured that perhaps that was in the works since they kept the hole, just wasn't sure

They had a very talented replacement tenor fly in as soon as they knew the other member had the injury.  He has been rehearsing with the corps for a couple weeks.  They will work him in when it makes sense (and he is comfortable with 192 drill sets and all the music).

I don't speak for Colin but I cannot imagine a situation where he would arbitrarily cut a couple snares in the middle of the summer due to an injury in another section.  But, that's just my take.

Very true, it would be cruel and inhumane to cut to 2 snares at this point for that reason, better just to bring someone in and learn throughout the summer in time for the end of the season.

Thanks for info all.

Being the "underdog" has always been a great motivator for me!

I know right.. Always a good way to boost yourself mentally that will manifest outwardly. A good way to become so driven, constantly pushing. (Motivation)

Not at all. Yes, they jazz run, march, stage, act, play great music, and all that, just like most corps; but the use of props, the show theme, the ideas behind this show are very different from last year. I would maybe lump 2017 and 2018 together. I thought 2015 & 16 had some similarities. But 2019 feels very different and I love it. And by the way, I think all corps should try to bring back ideas that work and see if they can use them in a slightly different way. You can't just reinvent the wheel every year. What BD has been doing from 2014 to now is brilliant and I have enjoyed each of those shows.

What a thrill it is to see the visual designs of BD and Bloo this year. Incredible stuff!

There are concepts that most of the corps use and rely on that have become their thing. BD has a specific high brass style, and Bluecoats is different; Crown has a very specific style. if you are listening you can immediately tell the difference between the three.

Visually, there are concepts that all of the established corps rely on year after year. Some is probably unintentional, but some are intentional. BD has their approach to marching and staging, as does Cadets, Crown, certainly Phantom and Coats. BD usually includes the rotating box. It’s one of their things.
