How do the Cadets right the ship?

Have you watched them rehearse this year? I'm not asking for over-rehearsed for the sake of over-rehearsal. But there is a distinct lack of focus and drive that I'm accustomed to...and I'm talking from within the corps

Sometimes the chemistry of any group isn't what is "expected".

What makes you say it’s getting worse?  The scores from San Antonio?  If that’s the basis of your opinion, you might want to consider looking at this from a more constructive viewpoint.

Yes, the scores from San Antonio. (And Katy, And Denton, and Broken Arrow.)  These scores are the only objective measure we have.

I do not know what you mean "a more constructive viewpoint".

Looking into the designers "heart"?

Or,  just saying something nice so no one's feelings get hurt?

Find a new or different brass arranger (Jay Bocook, please)

Find a new or different visual designer (Jeff Sacktig, maybe)

Put the reins on the show coordinator

Get Justin Heimbecker involved with the corps again in some capacity

#solutions

For all of this discussion about bringing designers/ instructors back or trying to get people to come back,  whats to say they are not happy where they are and dont  necessarily want to come back?  Or, that it is not financially prudent for the organization to spend the money to get particular people back.   The Cadets seem to now be in the same situation most other corps are in......trying to find good up and coming staff, at a decent price, that dosnt break the corps back, and want to be with your corps.  This is not easy

Some of the best instructors and designers in the business are "Golden Age" Cadets and are working with other groups. Why is that? Because no one wanted to work for GH. GH is gone.

YEA needs to decide that it's time for these folks to come home. Staffs win championships. Our championships also created great staffs... for other corps.

Namely:

  • Bluecoats' visual co-caption heads (yes, both)
  • Bluecoats' brass caption head
  • Vanguard's guard caption head
  • Boston's brass arranger
  • Boston's artistic director
  • Boston's drill designer
  • (About half of the rest of Boston's staff)
  • Crown's drill designer
  • Crown's brass arranger
  • Crown's percussion ensemble coordinator
  • (About half of Crown's visual staff)
  • Phantom's brass caption head
  • Etc, etc.

I am bumping my own post because this is still the answer to the topic's question. Add Bluecoats' percussion arranger, although we clearly do not need help in that area.

Interesting... can you point me to Boston's championships and Regiment's championships with Cadet people?

Ignore the facts, whatever suits your narrative...

Do you realistically Cadets could entice any of these people to return?  ... I'd guess they are all (or almost all) happy where they are.

Maybe that same Allentown magic from last year will reappear.

Therein lies the problem. Maybe not all are as happy as they could be. Gotta sign the kind of employee contracts that convinced people to leave for other corps.
