oldsoprano
Don't know about high brass, but one year back in the 70s, Oakland Crusaders had the high percussion score in prelims - and didn't make Finals! (no semi-finals back then, just prelims and finals)

gbass598
It's an average of 3 night so I'm sure it has happened multiple times. Crown won it in 2017. Cadets won it in 2015. Those are the 2 I got on a quick google search.

kdaddy
Didn't BD tie for high brass in 91 and 93 while finishing fifth and fourth, respectively? Same with Scouts in 95? BAC won guard last year with a fifth place corps finish - that was pretty rare. 1

Indeed they won percussion as a 6th place corps in 2010. I feel it's easier for a percussion section to outperform a corps (not necessarily *win* drums, but substantially outperform). Brass seems a bit different, and guard is nutty.
