Hmmmm...63 points in June.  82 points in August.

Well every drum corps scores improved. The fact remains that they did not catch and pass 1 single corps this season. That's not good.

Please don't use gendered language like you did. Apparently, there are members who do not identify as "men" and you are insulting them by using gendered language. This is a good way to approach the words we speak.

The country has gone mad. Resist this idiocy.

I see you’re one of those people who go out of your way to be outraged. You’re no different than those of whom you complain.

I had been hearing mixed reviews on this show but got to experience it live yesterday and it was phenomenal. (This is the HYPE train thread not the boo hoo Madison thread right)?

My favorite thing about early semis is usually the huge following the Troopers get and their flag waving in the stands. Not yesterday. A group of 4-5 people wearing Madison Scouts gear came and sat around me to watch the show. One being the DMs mom.

A very clean group of young men enter the field professionally, actually marching, in a straight line, with military precision. The crowd erupts and they ride on energy from there. They hit forms like the M and the Fleur de lis perfectly. (They did not do this with their top 10 show in 2012).  They did a company front, they did a little high step marching.

They did a show without props. None. No narration. No fancy gadgets. The hornline had power. Isn't this the old school show that the traditionalists WANT to see?

Maybe it's because I was surrounded by family members of the 19 scouts, maybe it's because it marks the last performance of the end of an era...but I don't care what any posters on here think. The Madison Scouts 2019 show was electric, emotional, and very special.

It got the best crowd reaction of a non-finalist corps, and maybe anyone outside the top six. That's saying a lot.

Good luck to the 2020 scouts!

I think the show was smartly designed for the talent level they have. Very cleanly done with some well executed drill movements. I remember watching an interview with a well known show designer and was asked how do you plan a show and drill. One of the things he said is he always takes into consideration what talent level the Corp is at. I’m assuming if lots of vets returning or basically more newbies than returns. That’s what I thinks the Scouts did this year. Keep it simple but nothing overwhelming and structured. It was really a basic show that was entertaining and well executed.

I wish there was a sarcasm button. These people are loons, BUT there is a thread about Madison where the topic of gender was covered. I apologize fo not being clear...LOONS I tell you!!!

True...but they did improve.  I think they did the best with what they had to work with.  And what’s with the democratic socialist crap?   This is drum corps....not political bs.  Take that st++ to Faux news.

It appears that their improvement was no less or greater than anyone else. Did you expect them to stop rehearsing?

Don't be ridiculous; you know exactly what I mean. If you saw the corps in June you know they were a ton better by the end--quite frankly more so than I expected with how raw and shockingly unprepared they were that first week. I've worked as a music educator all of my adult life. Some years, I have ensembles that are supremely talented and for whom achieving anything less than near perfection is failure. Other groups I'm just proud that they are able to put on a semi-competent performance. All I ever ask of my kids is that they bust their tails and give max effort while maximizing rehearsal time. And that is all I ask of the Scouts on the field. Now, the adults running the corps? That is another discussion for another thread, and suffice it to say I don't feel the same about them. But that is another discussion for another thread, not the "hype" thread.

Learn how to read this board. The democrat socialist picture was in another members original post that I quoted.
