The queen is fanfared up the stairs by the trumpets and then the drums lead her down to the field.

I’m sad too!  We can’t love every show, and it’s really the first one since I’ve started following that left me a little cold.  Nothing at all on the kids, just not for me design wise.  Still enjoyed some moments though, I’m sure I’ll love em next year!

You must really hate The Cadets then.

Very nice catch by the rifles on an angle and in perfect unison!

Also didn’t notice that the rifles take the brass players’ hats during the Just segment.

Top scores for a 12th-place corps in Finals:

86.750 -- Crossmen 2018: "The In-Between"

86.225 -- Crossmen 2014: "Alma Gitana"

86.075 -- Spirit from JSU 2005: "The Spirit of Broadway"

86.000 -- Colts 1999: "Voices"

85.950 -- Glassmen 2004: "Voice of One"

85.800 -- Glassmen 2010: "The Prayer Cycle"

85.450 -- Blue Stars 2013: "Voodoo"

85.350 -- Spirit of Atlanta 2011: "ATL Confidential"

85.300 -- Colts 1998: "A Cappella Celebration"

85.250 -- Madison Scouts 2017: "The Last Man Standing"

85.225 -- Madison Scouts 2008: "La Noche de la Iguana"

85.100 -- Sky Ryders 1988: "The Sound of Music"

85.100 -- Troopers 2009: "Western Side Story"

85.025 -- Crossmen 2015: "Above and Beyond"

85.000 -- Carolina Crown 1997: "Postcards from Britain"

A couple thoughts:

(1) Many of these corps had higher scores in Semifinals and then saw a drop the next night.

(2) Crossmen could still end up in 11th.

Not over yet, though.

Mellophones wailing on the unison note in the last chord before Estancia!

I’ve loved this movement of Estancia since Phantom played it in ‘93.
