Carolina Crown 2020

Recommended Posts

Does any one have any updates on who is replacing Jim Coates, and if they found someone to fill the Visual Design Assistant position posted on their website?  I am hoping that the design team learned some lessons from 2019 and puts a more cohesive visual package on the field.  As Crown has the talent to win (music, drums, and hopefully CG with the addition of the esteemed Byron V.), so its on the design team to step up.

I know right? But in all of your years in judging with indoor, have you heard where a 6th bass is really an asset musically to a battery? I'm not saying it isn't, I just have never heard where Bass 6 really made a huge difference in writing. Then again, I'm not field level to be able to really hear the layering. Now if they go to septoms, then I'll KNOW something strange and devious this way comes.

yup. i marched in a few 6 man...person...lines, taught some, judged some, and worshiped the Crossmen 6 pack attack years under Thurston. It's how you A) tune them and B) write for them. if you just look at #6 as the power drum, yeah it's pointless.

I must have been living under a rock (or spending too much time in the Cadets thread), but I didn't realize Jim Coates was leaving.

He’s not leaving. They are just looking for someone to head the drum corps section of the organization. Jim is still running the whole organization

Around 12:35 sounds incredible in person. I heard it at the December and January camps, and it sounds glorious. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I first heard it. Just a sneak peak of something you will be playing on repeat this coming summer. Go Crown!!
