Last year they ran the corps all over the country and got little practice time. Fortunately they’re making some great changes. That corps caravan got back to Allentown last August with a boat load of issues and loose ends. I’m so glad they are taking a more conservative approach. I’m more concerned that the members love their show, have a terrific design and instruction, great big standing Os. Safe travel, nice housing and rehearsal facilities (also not always the case last year) and they become “cadets clean” - haven’t seen that in quite a while. I’m excited! 2020 2019 Site 6/20 Thu Detroit, MI 6/22 Sat North Canton, OH 6/23 Sun Zionsville, IN 6/25 Tue Hamilton, OH 6/26 Wed Pittsburgh, PA 1 6/26 Fri 6/28 Fri Allentown, PA 2 6/27 Sat 6/29 Sat Lawrence, MA 3 6/28 Sun 7/1 Mon Lynn, MA 4 6/30 Tue TBD Philadelphia, PA 7/2 Tue East Rutherford, NJ 7/5 Fri Lisle, IL 7/6 Sat Whitewater, WI 7/7 Sun Menomonie, WI 7/9 Tue Sioux City, IA 5 7/9 Thu Knoxville, TN 7/12 Fri Casper, WY Here's a direct comparison of the first three weeks of tour. I agree that the 2020 tour is addition by subtraction for the reasons you cited -- particularly more rehearsal time for a cleaner show out of the gate.

So how will ST factor in this schedule: 1 week later start, 4 consecutive shows, a week plus to rehearse the back on the road? There may be a lot of catching up to do and doing it while others are settled into their tour routine. And I forgot the break over the 4th being parade time for some $$ to support tour. Making for less rehearsal time. Edited November 21, 2019 by LabMaster
Glenn426
Strange, when I saw the tour schedule, I immediately thought, Cost Savings and PARADES $$$ Not starting in Detroit saves them a week of travel. and not coming down south to Florida after the 4th of July also saves money and leaves them in the $$$ Zone (the Northeast, where parades are more frequent) Surely they will not only be doing 7 days of Rehearsal but will be doing Parades when possible.

Making for less rehearsal time. The thing is (sadly) the corps had a very rough (even though longer) ST last year. No drill to learn after the opening minute - and a mess of a visual design package This year will be extremely different. And I don't think the production planning for rehearsals was particularly strong. They literally looked/sounded the same after three weeks than they did after two. There was like ten lost days in there. The corps that showed up in Detroit was not a Cadets quality corps. The members fought through and made the best of that and caught up a bit but the dye was cast once they were placed in 8th.

Yup. I'm hoping we'll see this pay off for the members and the organization. More $$$, more rehearsal and less expense (plus a MUCH better design/instructional team) should be the right recipe for Cadets 2020 Another year like the last 3 and they'd be toast. One example - $60K in props they are desperately trying to sell at the fire sale price of $5K. Ouch! Pivot will be whether 2020 mms will be willing to sacrifice their $$$ to be part of what probably will be a several year process. Let the auditions begin. (other corps who have already started their process have been noticeably quite on all the various sites with almost no photos or commentary to date.) Of course, there is the case of Madison Scouts re-working their show in the mid-70's and coming back out amazingly on fire. But those other overage challengers they bested have all been eliminated, haven't they? Edited November 22, 2019 by xandandl

dans
Going to Cadets camp this weekend. Excited to step away from the negativity on this site and see what's really happening with the Cadets. 7
