New Judging Terms for 2020

13. Il Troppo is a colloquialism of Italian dialect translated as "too much" and is often used pejoratively when referring to Opera if the set is overly done, the costuming/drama/backdrops considered "over the top" and excessive.  As reviewers and posters now refer to competitive drum corps appearances as "programs" "performances," and "productions," and the marching members as "cast" performers, the drill as "staged," and the writers as "production designers,"  the term seems apt as it is all becoming "il troppo."
