uh, White Sabers aren't from Long Island.

Add Western NY if you want. Sun is from LI..., though the White Sabres location does make them at least a tad of an outlier. What's the closet DCA show to them? The one in Milton, PA? That's 153 miles.

Granted, they have been able to deal with it extremely well, but they're not exactly part of the geographic nugget of DCA as it currently exists.

Coming from someone mainly involved in the DCI side of things, at this point why doesn't DCA and DCI merge or DCI expands the "All-Age" Class and allows those units to participate in DCI Championships. For example host the All-Age Prelims the morning of Open Class Prelims and All-Age Finals the morning of Open Class Finals. Then allow all 3 classes (4 if International Class is in use) to compete at World Championships. Of course the DCA season runs longer into August and September than the DCI season so there would have to be some adjustment on the part of the DCA corps but it allows All-Age corps to survive in a way that DCA doesn't seem to offer at the moment and could quite possibly boost the attendance of some DCI events as well as boosting DCI's member corps by 14+

Nope. 75-year-old corps will not willingly accept morning finals as a warmup to someone else's event.

Some stuff should change, but this is a nonstarter.

This seems like such a trivial issue though, there are plenty of ways to work around this. Saturday and Sunday for All-Age, Monday and Tuesday for Open Class, Thursday through Saturday for World Championships for example. If the biggest issue here is a morning finals then is there really an issue? It may not be the most universally liked decision but DCI is the largest drum corps circuit in the world currently. No other circuit whether it be DCA, DCE, DCJ, or even the new Drum Corps Asia has had the reach and scope DCI has had these past few years, DCI remains the largest circuit for drum corps competition.

easy....control. also, monday and tuesday morning isn't the most friendly schedule for DCa marching members.

I understand where you are coming from, but don't forget that many DCA members are working folks who take off a couple of days now...not sure trying to wedge them in to DCI week will work for a lot of them. Even though the average members in DCA are younger, there are still many older adults. There are also  corps travel costs added in for many of the DCA corps who do not travel much out of their region now. I think it would be a tough sell for them to travel to Indy.

I was thinking of the added travel cost and how long it would take some corps to plan for that extra big bite of the budget. Thinking at least a season ahead of time.

as someone who's been involved in both DCI and DCA, this does no favors for the all-age groups by making them second fiddle.

Here's why.
There's simply not enough time in the season on the proposed schedule to create a show that they are currently producing at the level they are currently producing.   So the product being sold would suffer.

it would cut the shows in August which would then cut the money made from those shows.  corps revenue would suffer.

There's the travel cost.  Which, understood, there's going to be travel costs no matter what.  However, with the majority of groups in the northeast, and the majority of DCA fans in the northeast, this will inhibit who can attend.

I'm all for DCI expanding All-Age class and providing performance opportunity throughout the country at the local shows.  This is something that would help to grow the All-Age groups and provide some much needed exposure.  I don't believe that piggy backing DCA  onto DCI week is a good idea or profitable for the DCA groups.

I think DCA still needs its own weekend, possibly the week before Labor day to allow students in college and high school to participate, and in a venue and city that gives you a championship feel.  I don't dislike Williamport due to how it bends over backwards for the event, I do wish there was something a little more to it.
