Biggest complaint was fans said they felt “cheated” when 2 of 6 corps had under (one well under) 35 members. Next line was “if it’s like this next year.... bye”. Some of the mini-corps over the years... smaller than 35, but they were really good, and entertaining. Ghost Riders, Mass Brass, Golden Eagles, and of course, Star United, among others.... they would have been a welcome addition as an exhibition group to a DCA lineup.

But some of those couple dozen member competing corps, let's face it. They were brutal.

All I'll say is they were trying to play stuff a corps like the Blue Devils wouldn't even touch. Why, I have no idea. LOL.

Hosts didn't view them as a draw, so they didn't want to pay anything for them.

From what I could tell didn’t matter if the sponsor paid or not. Show advertised a 6 corps show but turned into 4 corps and 2 “they counted them as corps?”. So some fans they didn’t get what they paid for even if sponsor paid $0.

LOL A family member went up for prelims one of the early Scranton years... went into the bar for a beer and a bite before buying a ticket... then realized they were feeding the audio of the show into the bar, and he could see the corps through the big window!!! So he stayed there and watched prelims for free. Edited October 11, 2019 by Fran Haring
