Over the past ten years, these have been the top three scoring corps going into Prelims; scores earned one week prior unless indicated:

2011 -- 94.25; 93.00; 91.95 (MBI; Buccaneers; Hurricanes)  -- all two weeks prior -- AVERAGE 93.07

2012 -- 95.10; 92.65; 91.35 (Buccaneers; Caballeros; MBI) -- MBI two weeks prior -- AVERAGE 93.03

2013 -- 96.30; 94.15; 93.80 (Buccaneers; MBI; Caballeros) -- MBI two weeks prior -- AVERAGE 94.75

2014 -- 94.25; 93.70; 92.35 (Caballeros, Buccaneers; MBI/Fusion (tie)) -- MBI two weeks prior -- AVERAGE 93.43

2015 -- 94.20; 93.55; 92.85 (Buccaneers; Caballeros; Cadets2) -- AVERAGE 93.53

2016 -- 95.15; 93.80; 92.50 (Buccaneers; Cadets2; Caballeros) -- AVERAGE 93.82

2017 -- 95.20; 92.75; 92.30 (Buccaneers; CV; Caballeros)  -- AVERAGE 93.42

2018 -- 94.45; 91.95; 91.85 (Buccaneers; CV; Cadets2) -- AVERAGE 92.75

2019 -- 93.85; 93.70; 93.15 (Buccaneers; CV; Caballeros) -- AVERAGE 93.57

I had asked the other day whether scores were lower this year than in the past. While the top score is usually higher, as you can see, this year's average of the top three is about the same as in prior years.

2011 is a little flawed...the east cost shows the weekend before finals were cancelled due to a hurricane coming up the coast

Thanks for the explanation. I had noted that scores were all from two weeks out, but I didn't know why.

it wouldn't have changed the end result. but the hosts and corps pulled the plug Friday.

Curiously the top three in 2011, two weeks out from Finals, had about the same average score as the top three in 2012, one week out from Finals.

Why didn't the government just use a nuclear bomb to stop the hurricane?
