Bluecoats Downside Up if only for personal reasons. I am still really bummed I missed it live but I did get to see it in the theater. Besides this show was a huge game changer. 🙂

Still looking for a Dark Side of the Moon shirt...

It probably is my favorite by a nose though.

Crown 13, SCV 18, and BD 17 get HMs

The Ft Wayne show was BDs worst run that season. I remember it being billed as the showdown of the decade since it was the first matchup between Felliniesque and Tilt. Bloo absolutely ripped the house down and slayed everyone in their path with their performance that night. BD on the other hand was flat, lacked energy, appeared to be going thru the motions, and they still won by a full point. That was the nail in the coffin for the 2014 season. Sadly for Tilt, they were the innocent person that was in the wrong place at the wrong time..........or wrong year is better. Any other year, Tilt is your DCI champ. But in 2014, no one earth was beating Felliniesque.

Bloo was definitely on fire.  This was the old ending where they had multiple jumpers and such too.  Then BD came on and had what the BD volunteer next to me called a “shaky run.”  But was crazy clean for July 8th.   Heard some staff from Bloo behind me say “16” when they were done.

Nothing was beating  that show

Felliniesque. I saw that in Ft. Wayne the night Bloo got within a point of it. That’s as close as anyone got all season.  By the time the ballad sucked the air out of your lungs with the silent bits between hits, you knew you were watching the World Champions

I was at that show! Were you there? Or watching it on a stream?

Edit: I see from a subsequent post that you were indeed there.

I said to Jim “Ain’t NOBODY beating that”.

Quick story i posted in a thread couple years ago regarding BD 2014.

I saw Felliniesque at the Glendora show late June. It was BDs first show in SoCal that year so everyone was excited. There was this super nice couple, probably in their 50's that was in Chambersburg PA the night before where Bluecoats had performed. They was raving about Tilt, and how all of us was going to be blown away when we saw it, gold medal show, etc. Then BD performs few hours later.........when they finished blowing the house down, the couple just shook their heads in amazement and said the season is officially over, no show on earth including Tilt was beating Felliniesque. They said their goodbyes to all of us and left. This was two weeks before BD/Bloo even went head to head. But since they was only ones at least near us that had seen both shows live, they said Tilt didn't have a prayer.

I’d seen Tilt before Felliniesque, too.   I thought wow great show.

 You know the rest. 😂

Had to go with BD 2014.

Best drum corps I have ever seen, without question.

Yup. I grew up in ft Wayne. Was visiting the folks and talked them into a show. Was my first live show since 2000 finals. Totally pulled me back into the activity

Longtime DCP member Bruckner8, who I believe has done some teaching for Bluecoats, wrote this on June 1, 2016:

"What to expect from Bloo 2016: Some old school, some compulsories, and some game-changers."

I hear that.

We had dinner, late spring that year, with friends who have ties to the Bluecoats organization... about a week after they had gotten back from a 'Coats camp. Our friends said pretty much the same thing... "You're gonna see stuff you've never seen before on a drum corps field." Man, were they ever correct!

Dang!! You picked a great show to make your return to DCI! Fellini and Tilt maybe one of the best top two's of all time.

I also said “Ain’t nobody beating that” about Down Side Up.  It got beat a few times over the season but not at the big show.
