kevingamin
First on the field and competing in DCA Class A is the Govenaires from Saint Peter, Minnesota. Here is their 2019 program information, courtesy of Drum Corps Xperience: The Govies Take Manhattan A Tone Parallel to Harlem by Claude Bolling Hundred Story City (from Ordinary Days) by Adam Gwon Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keyes
kevingamin
Govies have a recorded intro to their show, giving them control over the timing. A trumpet soloist with tuba providing the bass line and front ensemble accompaniment start the show with Tone Parallel to Harlem
kevingamin
Full corps now doing a park and blow with the guard in the middle. Guard has flags representing different street signs in Harlem while also pulling red suitcases. Those are hard to handle in an airport, so imaging having to drag one along on turf. kevingamin
Guard and front ensemble are wearing outfits in a variation of red and white tops with blue pants. Nice swing section with body movement in the hornline.
kevingamin
Flag line is really working during this section of the show. Very dynamic equipment work. Guard just got on the A Train, which is the corps itself. Two of the guard members scuffle a little before the DM admonishes them “No fighting!” We’re now going to Central Park with Hundred Story City. Mellophone soloist opens with the melody. Dru line is up front and chillaxing.
kevingamin
Govies are a corps which has the horn line use crab stepping technique, similar to the drum line, when moving across the field. Keeps the body lined up properly from head to toe for better posture and breath support.
kevingamin
Great unison flag toss in the guard!
kevingamin
Horns now turn backfield to finish the ballad with another mellophone soloist. Drums are back on the field.
