2019 Drum Corps Associates World Championships Preliminary Competition

Recommended Posts

Holy 16th note runs, horn line! Also, the two tubas are putting out a wonderful foundation for the horn line to sit on.

Crowd was impressed with the 16th note runs and applauded through to the end of the movement.

Baritone soloist to Open Who Wants To Live Forever, accompanied by a solo flag.

Now a brass quartet with one horn from each section for a SATB voicing.

Horns now form tight pods on side one of the field for the chorus of the song before spreading out across the field.

Guard just pulled out a large banner with names on it. I can’t really make them out so I don’t know the context, but, judging from the song title and show theme, I’m guessing these are people important to the corps members who have passed away.

Minuano. Metheny always works well on the field.

Corps really getting the 6/8 jazz feel down wonderfully. Nice trumpet solo, as well!

A little lean back by the horns during the impact before the pit takes over.

Drum line joins in with the pit on the second iteration of this section of the song. Horns come back in on the main theme.

Tempo picks up as the corps heads into the finale of the show. Trumpet soloist officially now a trumpet screamer after taking his last note up the octave.

And then another note even higher!

I think Southern Knights is Open Class. Early Corps are mixed Class A and Open based on scores.  I think.

OK, since they’re not keeping the classes separate, I’ll refrain from saying what class they’re in.
