Just saw that the guard has blue “water” lipstick for a little added effect to their makeup look. That game is on point.

Tradition is connecting big time with the crowd. Great energy so far in this performance.

OK, so my iPad actually did overheat to the point that it shut down. I have now moved to a shady location, at the top of the hill, and will stay here for the rest of Prelims.

Next on the field is Carolina Gold from Greensboro, North Carolina. Here is their 2019 program information, courtesy of Drum Corps Xperience:

The corps starts in a tight formation center field before breaking apart while the pit intros the show. Strains of Send In The Clowns come from the horns during the opener.

Guard is all in front of the horns and look incredible on gorgeous flags. The uniforms have the look of a ringmaster about them, which is very striking.

Half the guard moves to double (yes, DOUBLE) rifle during the first full movement of the show.

Trumpets set up on side one for a feature.

Great full horn sound!

Low brass and mellophones on side two with a feature, handling off to trumpets on side one before they all come together.

Guard is doing a great job of filling out the field and expanding the look and size of the corps. Great integration into the visual package.

Small brass ensemble midfield opens the next section of the show. Guard breaks out umbrellas for this section of the show.

Oh, and what looks like pink rain sticks!

Nope, just pink flags rolled up. 😄
