I've seen some shows that could have used that boost but they'll have to remember which foot is the left one first. you missed my sarcasm

So, in the interest of “What’s this all about?” I ask . . . Which is most essential to keeping an All-Age corps functional? 1. a busy season of weekend performance opportunities for members, or 2. maintaining a competition-eligible membership in Drum Corps Associates? 1a) a busy schedule that generates some revenue

I'm thinking that getting a 50 just for showing up gives new meaning to the term "derived achievement."

You can set the bar and boxes wherever you want them. You could set the low number as 80 and then split the boxes as one wants. The question would then be how much room do you have to manage/stuff numbers into and get the rankings right. I do think part of the problem was after a time... you'd look at Drum Corps World scores on the bus and say, "Jesus, this Belchville Birdherder corps somewhere near Timbuktu got a 14 at a show! Who the heck would want to march THERE?" Stuff like that was I think a part of the factor of killing off a lot of the little corps, as well as the lack of money. Who would want to march there? It was humiliating for the members- it had to be.

I wish they had a "50 minimum rule" back then. Edited September 30, 2019 by Fran Haring
