Yeah, I am confused by what “1st Year” means as well.

First year being at prelims, I'm guessing. The percentage reflects how many of their attempts succeeded, though the OP is incorrect on a few of them (Boston didn't show up to Whitewater 72, and neither did Colt 45's).

will there be a tie for twelfth or who are you predicting to be cut?

That's the hard part. Top 12 this year was all deserving and i loved SOA who was just on the outside looking in. But if you twisted my arm and forced me to pick, I would say PR. Can't believe i just said that cause i love Regiment so much.

The first year for DCI Finals was 1972. The most recent year for DCI Finals was 2019. No years were skipped. That's 48, not 47.

Now that the Mandarins have kicked the door down... and Academy before them... I wonder which corps, if any,  will be the next first-time finalist.

I like thinking about this, too. But there is always the follow up: who gets bumped? Hate to see someone drop out (though it will be deserved, most likely).

I'm understanding "1st Year" as when a corps first finished top 12.  Boston's "1st" was in 99.  If this is about DCI Finals, there was no DCI finals in 71 for the BD to compete in.

correct their first year was 1973

I went to each corps wikipedia page.  Here is what it had for Blue Devils for example.  I knew about some being open class, but didn't want to go through trying to figure out what each corps did in open versus division III vs world class etc.
