I agree that corps running shows are revenue like corps running bingo. Great. It gives more corps a revenue source that is not related to themselves. There are 40 or so Indy-TEP's. Could corps-run show managers expand to consume and run them all, or those that leave the tour largely intact? What if DCI had to only run 20 shows and determine that the other 20 aren't worth saving? Isn't shutting them down an example of the smart "business sense" expected of the DCI leadership? it depends...shutting them down can reduce the number of eyes that get to see the product. Not everyone subscribes to Flo. While Allentown is just 90 minutes away, and even DCA shows within an hour of Hershey, I know hundreds of people that barely follow now because there is no show at Hershey. That show drew 5-7000 people annually for DECADES. Almost always a mix of DCA and DCI, even if just a DCI corps or two in exhibition.

Demand, in bigger venues and bigger shows, will define the impact on DCI's income statement. Fewer shows, bigger venues, broader lineup, higher ticket prices. "Finals week - light". bigger venues doesn't mean more eyes tho. We have big venues now not selling out.

Fred Windish
Just for reference . . . The volunteer local organizing team for DCI in Allentown is 80 members strong. Many having worked 30-40 years in their role. Paying “big venue” union wages for that would be quite a bill. 1
