Kidsgrove Scouts going to DCI next year

Recommended Posts

Kidsgrove won DCE this year, but they looked smaller than I remember them in years past. Jubal was second. The Company didn't field a corps this year (after the school who had hosted them changed administrations) and they've indicated they're going to be an indoor group from now on.

Makes sense to me. If the organization is going to spend a lot of money to cross the pond they would want the most bang for it. DCI provides far more exposure and offers better venues for their members to perform for larger audiences than DCA.

According to post on DCP by those who attended DCA in little league town attendance was less than 2k, was held at a high school stadium that faces the sun with bleacher seats and no aisle railings. Understandable why they are not attending DCA.

2K??

Making that 3K that Winston Salem drew in during the middle of the season  look like Gold 🙂 LOL

So is Allen Buell on the phone with DCI, cussing them out for talking to a DCA corps about an event during DCI championship week?  That is not allowed.

Reminder of leaving Gatewick airport and guy ahead of us got in security guards face about his wife having to remove her veil. Guard looked like Benny Hills Fred Scuttle character (about as harmless as you can get). Guard took the raft of crap and then said...

”you do want to get on the plane don’t you”?

Understated Brit way of defusing issues...

We are extremely excited to be heading back out to the States in 2020.

One of the main reasons why we are unable to participate in the DCA World Championships is actually due to the school term starting the week before when it normally starts the Monday/Tuesday after. This would have a massive impact on the tour especially with the amount of students and also teachers we have involved in the corps.

Added to this, we already have the members who are in school to request a couple of days off for DCE Championships for each year so I feel a week added on would be what we potentially call...taking the ####!

A side from all that we are really looking forward to experiencing DCI and looking forward to debuting on the circuit next summer. Allentown was mentioned earlier and I do believe its our intention to be there on one of the nights.

More details will be available soon. Keep an eye on www.facebook.com/kidsgrovescouts for more information.

Do all English schools divide the school year into Michaelmas, Hilary, and Trinity terms or is that only an Oxford thing?

Maybe someone should do a show titled "Encaenia!".
